He is the King of the Jews;
He is the King of Israel;
He is the King of all the Ages;
He is the King of Heaven;
He is the King of Glory;
He is the King of Kings;
..and He is the Lord of Lords.

He is a prophet before Moses;
He is a priest after Melchizedek;
He is a champion like Joshua;
He is an offering in place of Isaac;
He is a king from the line of David;
He is a counselor above Solomon;
He is beloved, rejected, and exalted like Joseph;
and yet He is far more…

The Heavens declare His glory…
and the firmament shows His handiwork.

He who is, who was, and who always will be;

He is the first and the last
He is the Alpha and Omega
He is the Aleph and the Tau
He is the A and the Å;

He is the ego eimi,
He is the
He is the “I AM that I AM”

He is the voice of the burning bush
He is the Captain of the Lord’s Host
He is the conqueror of Jericho

He is our Kinsman-Redeemer
He is our Avenger of Blood;
He is our City of Refuge;

He was crucified on a cross of wood;
Yet He made the hill on which it stood.

Those were the days!

I remember my first meeting with a personal computer. I think it was in 87-88 so i was about 7 or 8 years old, and the beauty was a C64. Man, did i love that computer. A few of my friends also got it, and we were all hooked.

But there was one friend. We visited him one day, and he had a strange thing called an Amiga 500. And it literally blew us away.

Of course, being kids, we didn’t want to be friends with him anymore, and started our own C64 “club”. Of course excluding our Amiga owning friend. But the sight and experience of the Amiga was stirring something inside us all. And pretty quickly, one after another, we defected over to this newfound source of power.

It took quite a while for me to get an A500, but one day my brother and i managed to buy a used one from a friend of my brother. Needles to say, and please bear in mind i was still a selfish kid, my younger brother didn’t get to enjoy it that much.

Commodore Amiga 1200

Then we all got wind that there was something new and wonderful, gleaming in our childish digital horizons. The Amiga 1200! This baby had it all! And suddenly the A500 didn’t fill our needs.

There was Protracker, 3D rendering, Demos, BBS’, CD-ROMs, accelerator cards, and seemingly endless possibilities! And, the almighty craving of a kid hooked on computer games, the AGA graphic. Bringing us graphics in games we had never dared to dream of before.

There was something magic about the A1200, something almost spiritual. It was so small, so powerful, and such a delight to use that it was impossible not to be mesmerized by it’s electronic beauty.

I remember the best time was when i set up my own BBS, using something called MaxBBS i think, on a single 14.4 modem. My parents didn’t approve much of me hogging the phone line at nights, to put it mildly. So i remember many a night having to strip wire with my teeth and twisting on some phone line plugs. And, with the stealth skills of a ninja, running the line from the basement to the kitchen where the phone line outlet was, so that people could dial in.

And, ah, the music! While others were listening and discussing the latest pop artists, we were collecting modules and listening to them with an almost religious attention. I mean, who would ever need more than four channels!? Come on!

And the endless debates in the school halls about the great Amiga VS PC controversy, i am sure you all remember those. The ugly dos/windows compared to the beauty and force of the Workbench!? Man, how we laughed at those poor schmoes.

But as time went by, we started to get a little worried. The PC was beginning to steamroll the Amiga in power. (at least the power of the hardware we could afford). And as years went by our laughter started to silence, and we all slowly defected over to the enemy’s side.

But there was something missing, the magic was not there. And the wonderful world that is found in and around the Amiga, never really let go in our hearts.

Sure, i can emulate an Amiga on my lightning fast PC, more powerful than any Amiga I’ve ever owned. But the great magical feeling; it’s just not there on the PC, and it can’t be emulated.

But as i said, the Amiga never really let go of our hearts, and we could never bring ourselves to throw away or sell the Amigas. So nowadays we sit down in front of it, and marvel at the fun it can still bring us. And the memories that it triggers.

Ah, those were the days!

Diatheke TCL script for IRC biblebots

This is the Biblebot Diatheke Tcl Script made by Chris Little. I’ve implemented the changes proposed by him to make it work with The Sword Project’s Diatheke 4. This is not my work, nor do i wish to take any credit. I merely made the changes to the script as instructed by Chris Little, everything else remain unchanged.

Also, i can not provide any support for the script, Sword or Diatheke. I simply post it here on my blog since i found it so hard to come by.

The future church

I can’t help but notice that it is becoming more and more politically incorrect to be a Biblical Christian. Believing in the Lord Jesus Christ and the Bible have for many become, or should i say have been for quite a while, grounds for ridicule and harassment. And i believe that it will only escalate, and that the ridicule and harassment will eventually turn into social and judicial persecution. Maybe not for this, or even the following generation, but at the rate it is progressing i believe it won’t be all that long before the church will have to go underground.

Now, I’m obviously speaking about areas of the world that used to be Christian, or at least tolerant towards Christians, because in many places of the world persecution of the church have been going on for a long long time. I am speaking about nations that was once founded upon Christian pillars. That have since, slowly but steadfast, turned it’s course into becoming bastions of paganism, spiritism and the new-age movement.

How can i claim this? Well, i remember when i was in primary and secondary school. We had an entire school subject called “Kristendom” (Christianity), a couple of hours each week. And we would frequently sing Christian songs and psalms. This was a public school in the mid ’80s and early ’90s, and it only took a few years for it to change. The subject of Christianity have now simply been replaced by the teaching of “beliefs”.

And no, i do not believe these classes made me a Christian. But when i look back, i realize that they might have been essential to the ease of my salvation later in life since they introduced me to the knowledge of The Lord.

Could the church have done a better job? Maybe it could have. Not at stopping all of this, because it is an inevitable turn of mankind which is prophesied numerous times in the Scripture. But perhaps at gaining more followers, and reaching out just a little more. And perhaps last but not least, keeping a better reputation.

Is it too late? Not at all. But i do believe that the church will move more and more back to it’s origin, namely the private homes of believers. Where the traditional model of the preacher, preaching to the gathering, might be replaced by Bible discussion- and study groups.

Will this be negative? Not necessarily. History has shown us that the Christian church flourishes under pressure and persecution. And moving back to it’s roots, i believe it will focus not so much on the difference of teachings, but on the Bible in detail.

There is a movie or a book, where i’ve heard the expression; It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. And perhaps that expression will find it’s ultimate meaning among the Christians in the church of the future.

You scored as Evangelical Holiness/Wesleyan, You are an evangelical in the Wesleyan tradition. You believe that God’s grace enables you to choose to believe in him, even though you yourself are totally depraved. The gift of the Holy Spirit gives you assurance of your salvation, and he also enables you to live the life of obedience to which God has called us. You are influenced heavly by John Wesley and the Methodists.

But to be honest i’d never heard of John Wesley before, and was only aware that there was something called methodists.

How to find great bargains on eBay!

With this search engine, the TypoTracker, you will easily be able to find misspelled eBay auctions quickly. And since they are misspelled, and since most people spell their search correctly when looking for a product, they’ll never find the misspelled entries. So with TypoTracker you will find auctions where not a single bid has been placed, simply because no one knows it’s there and the seller has not realized that he or she misspelled their auction.

What TypoTracker does, is generate misspelled versions of your search and give you links to those searches on eBay. I entered a few searches, and found lots and lots of auctions where no bids had been placed at all. Not because the products were bad, but because no one ever got to the auction, so the prices were still at the starting bid.

Ubuntu, Apache, Drupal & private filesystem

I’m certain there are other, and probably better ways to do this. But this is what worked for me.

Download, extract, upload and install Drupal according to the installation instructions. Then, login to your server, and create a folder for Drupal to use. For example:

mkdir /media/mydisk/drupalfilesystem

Then you need to make that folder writable by the Apache server. I did this by entering the command:

chown -R www-data:www-data /media/mydisk/drupalfilesystem

Now you must login with your administrator account to configure Drupal. Login, and choose:

Administer > Site Configuration > File System

Enter the path to the folder you made in the File system path textfield, in this case we enter:

/media/mydisk/drupalfilesystem

Set the Download method to “Private” and, if all goes well, you are good to go.

TV Guide på PC’n

Fant ett meget nyttig lite program i dag.

Du laster ned TVAnyWhere her.

You know you’re Norwegian when:

You assume that a stranger on the street who smiles at or greets you is:
a) drunk.
b) insane.
c) an American.
d) All of the above.

You vigorously defend whaling and enjoy consuming whale meat.

You enjoy the taste of lutefisk (jelly-like, bad-smelling fish) and cod prepared in any way, including fried cod tongues.

You can prepare fish in five different ways without cooking it.

You don’t question the habit of always preparing a “matpakke” (sandwich in paper).

You have two cars, a cabin and a boat, if not more.

You think there is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing.

It feels natural to wear sport clothes and backpack everywhere, including the cinema, bowling alley, and to church.

You think it’s weird if a house isn’t wooden.

You know at least five different words for describing different textures of snow.

You don’t fall when walking on ice.

You earn more than you spend.

You associate Easter with cross-country skiing with friends and family in the familys mountain cabin.

You are shocked if it’s not 2 months of snow every year, at least!

You can see mountains and the ocean, no matter where you are.

You expect all dinner parties and meetings to start precisely on time, if not before.

You fall 3 meters, and don’t get hurt. If you do, you’re not worried at all.

You haven’t heard of “fast-food”.

You can’t understand why foreigners haven’t heard about Bjørn Dæhlie.

You’re proud to be Norwegian – and you pass these jokes on to all your Norwegian friends!
